Arts and Architecture Information Technology (AAIT) provides support and consulting for departmental and college computing. We also maintain departmental student computing areas as well as most aspects of the technology infrastructure.
We do not have a help desk. Each department has their own IT contact, who is familiar with departmental needs and people. You can get contact information from your department’s office or at the URL http://www.artsandarchitecture.psu.edu/it/contact.html. Please work with your contact for all of your technology requests. They are the best person to help you or provide advice.
Your department will provide you with a computer and software, the details of which will vary by individual need and circumstance. The base software suite used on all college machines includes Microsoft Office, Internet Browser, and Eudora email.
Your support contact will need to know your Penn State Access ID to get your email configured. If you have just arrived, it may take the University Accounts Office a few days to process the paperwork. University policy dictates that your support person also get your signature on a college version of the University computing guidelines (AD20).
With the growing popularity of laptops, some individuals have opted to use their personal machine rather than a departmentally-supplied machine. Due to liability issues, our support for non-University machines is limited, although additional help is available at the helpdesks in Willard Building and Computer Building. Additionally, due to the nature of various institutional licensing agreements, you may not be able to receive all of the software normally installed on institutional machines.
The University’s Information Technology Services maintains a page with up-to-date links about faculty resources on campus at http://its.psu.edu/newfaculty. We also maintain an FAQ with useful information at http://www.artsandarchitecture.psu.edu/it/faq.html.
